A trip to the Dr. = a pain in the....

On Thursday, Sammy had her appointment with the gastroenterologist. (I don't know if that is how you spell it.) So she had to miss another half day of school. By the time I checked her out at 1:00, she was exhausted. It was her first day at school with the crutches, and her foot was killing her. Our appointment was at 2:00, but they ask you to be there 15 minutes early. Well, I get to the hospital 15 minutes early, and Sam isn't exactly feeling nimble, so I decide to carry her and her crutches. I am beat by the time I make it inside after dragging her across the hospital parking lot. Disclaimer: I am not in great physical condition. So we get there and check in and they weigh her and all that and show us to the little room and we wait and wait and wait. Let me tell you, for being pediatric specialists, the toy and book selection were not very good. I am starting to get worried about making it home in time for Megan, because the house is all locked up, so I call Nate and tell him he might need to leave work to go get her. Finally at 3:05 the doctor shows up. Remember, my appointment was at 2:00. SIGH! Nate is always saying the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Well, the doctor wants to keep Sammy on the same plan we are on. I won't go into details, because it is private to Sam. But for the grandma's information I will say that Sam has gained a little weight:). I understand why we are doing the treatment we are doing, and I understand the results they are trying to get, I just get frustrated sometimes. I can't wait until she is compleletly healthy again. In the same respect, I saw a little girl there that looked so fragile, and she had a tube coming out of her belly. It just broke my heart. Then I realize how lucky we really are.
So it is now 3:18, I call Nate and tell him he doesn't need to get Megan. Sam by this time is wiped out with her foot killing her. So I schlep her back to the car. I have scoliosis, so it really doesn't take much to spazz out my back. So now it is Saturday and my back hurts so bad it has gone up into a headache that I can't get rid of. Fun week huh. Kids home sick on Tuesday, Sam injured on Wednesday, Belly Dr. on Thursday. BUT, on Friday, I had a date with my sweetie, and that made it all go away. Another Suns game. We kicked the Timberwolves butts and we got free combs! That's right, I took 5. You know why? The girls are always stealing the combs and we can never find one. And they were free. And they are neon orange, so they will be easy to find. And I am cheap and love free things!

Love the free stuff too! Sorry about the doctors office, waiting for doctors is a huge pet peeve of mine. Annoying isn't it. Hope your back is feeling better soon.

So you know I was kidding when I said harrassment- right? I know I stink at posting often!
I can just imagine you schlepping Sam back and forth and carrying cruthes all the while. A mom's job is so thanksless! I feel your frustration with trying to help your kids get better. It's such a hard process.
But hey, free combs! It must have been your lucky day!
