A few weeks ago I finally found an ad on Craigslist for an orthodontist assistant that didn't need 2 years experience. Problem. I've
never had a resume. Ever. I had one half way done so the next day I called my friend Cara, who is fabulous, emailed my partial resume and she helped me spice it up. And we took my Christmas card, scanned it in and put a picture of my family at the top of the resume. Got it all done and I zipped it over to an anonymous job that I didn't even know who or where it was.
The next morning I got a call to come in and do an interview that afternoon! Funny story, last summer when I was doing my externship an ortho office invited us out for lunch. My interview was at that office! And they remembered me. What a small world. I interviewed for an hour and a half with three different people. And it went well. I got a call back to come in for a working interview so I spent four hours in the office and really enjoyed the staff at this office. At this point, I'm 5 1/2 hours into this process. After the interview the manager said she was going out of town for a few days, but she would give me a call. Valentine's came along and we were eating dinner when I got the call. Hired! And I would start the next day! (Which was a bit of a bummer because the kids were out of school. Diana was over here eating and immediately said she would take the kids. Lifesaver!)
So I survived the first week. Training at a new job is always exhausting, the braces at this office are completely different than my last office and of course I have to learn a new doctor and new staff. But I am really liking it. I could really see this being long term. So if you or your kids need braces, check us out
here.Funny P.S. right after my interview I read an article about the WORST things you can put on your resume. Putting your picture on was at the top of the list. Everyone that I interviewed with told me right away that they loved my resume and loved that I put a picture on it. Hahaha! What does Yahoo know, anyway?
