My day in a nutshell...

This morning was my assignment to go and help in Sammy's class. I needed to be there at 9:00 and thought I should be noble and ride my bike over. Do my bit for the environment. So I get there thinking I'll be my customary 45 minutes, find a nice shady spot to park my bike and head in. I did my regular thing and then she asked if I could help the kids do their voting for Student Council. Sure thing. Each student was to type in their first initial, last name and then a password consisting of Upper and Lower letters and numbers. Kidding me? So I typed all that in for them, the only problem being that the whole school was voting at the same time so it was poky. Don't get me wrong, I love working in the classroom and doing whatever I can to help, but I thought the school could have had a better process. Two hours later I head out to my bike to find the shade has passed my bike by and the seat is 675 degrees. Plus, I was starving by the time I left. With my new thyroid medication, I'm supposed to take it an hour before I eat, OR three hours after I eat. Plus, I can't take it at night, it can cause sleeplessness. So it is hard to fit breakfast in on mornings like this.
Came home, got some good cleaning done. Why I feel I need to clean the house really good right before a slumber party, I don't know. But I always feel better when things are cleaned. Nate came home to get ready to go camping. He asked me if I was leaving and when I told him where I was going, he informed me that this is why he does not volunteer:]
In Megan's class the last couple of weeks, they have been studying crabs and frogs and such and they have had these creatures on their desks. Well, that unit is over, I now have two new crabs at my house, and the unit needed to be cleaned up. Room mom to the rescue! Nasty rocks and sand and plants all smelling like a swamp and needing to be cleaned out. And can I just tell you, I wish I had words to describe the nasty putrid nastiness smell coming from our new crabs. They eat dead plankton of all things and it reeks! Hopefully they will die soon. Did I say that out loud?
Got home from school, made the girls clean their rooms before dinner. Getting Sammy to clean her room is no easy feat, but she did it! With 4 minutes to spare! I may have shed a tear...
The girls and I met up with Lori, Erin and Tiffany over at Paradise Bakery for dinner. Got a little shopping in. We got Megan a shirt and flip flops at Aeropostle. Sammy wanted a $15 tiara from Claires, but I had to put my foot down. For one thing, I would rather flush that money down the toilet. She never wears them and she leaves them on the floor with the comb part up so when you step on it you say bad words. She settled for a really cute purse. Like we need another purse around here, but I would rather buy that than a tiara. It was a lot of fun. The older my girls get, the more fun it is to do these things. Just so much easier!
Now, here I am, sequestered in my room. There are 6, SIX!, girls in my house. It is fun to overhear their conversations. And it isn't even loud. Sam and her friends are nicely playing in her room and the big girls are watching a movie. And I get bonus points for letting it all happen. WOO HOO!
Hope Nate is enjoying himself in his new 6 man tent. No dog to steal the covers or lay on his feet. No wife making weird sleeping noises. Ahhhhhh.
