Nate has a 3 day weekend. We like to take advantage of long weekends when we have them, so we have been trying to decide what to do. Originally we planned on heading to San Diego. We are becoming beach addicts. But then, genius that I am, I suggested that we go camping. You heard me. Not even in a motor home. In a tent. With no flushies. I am craving some mountain air, cooler temps and a change of scenery.
*Side note* I get that it is hot. I am hot. We all are. But I am growing weary of boys and men walking down the sidewalk of busy streets without their shirts on. I'm not talking about professional or college athletes going without shirts, that would probably be okay. Anyone from the Norwegian Olympic rowing team is welcome to walk down the street without the shirt. I'm talking about the bus boys from the pizza place walking home without a shirt on. Please. No one needs this. Okay, I'm done...(Perhaps I'm going crazy since I've been waiting 4 years for the rowing event at the Olympics. I strongly suggest you watch it this year.)
Nate is thrilled. We haven't camped since we lived in Utah, so we've had a trying time getting all the gear together. We went to Wal-Mart last night to get a few things that we couldn't find. A large cooler and air mattresses for the girls to be exact. Well, this morning I had an inspired thought and remembered where our old air mattresses are. We pull them out and realized that they have their own box, we've been storing them for three years, and we don't have plugs or a pump for either of them. Nice. On the up side we found our big cooler, so we can take the new one back. (I'm starting to think it would have been cheaper to go to San Diego.)
Nate is great and spent all afternoon in the furnace of our garage getting things gathered up. I just hope everything will fit in my car!
Megan had a birthday party today, so we've just had Sammy tonight. We took Sadie and rode our bikes up to Sonic. It is really hot outside:) The Hannah Montana movie was on tv tonight. Sammy quite enjoyed it.
I was on the patio tonight reading my book when Nate came out and asked if I wanted to play catch. I was quite confused, he doesn't usually ask me to get sporty with him since I am so hopeless. Then Sam came out with her mitt and I understood. After a few throws, Nate told Sam that they would play catch and I could continue reading my book:) I guess my throws were too powerful for him. I got some cute pics of Sam trying to catch the ball. There is one where it hit her in the toe for the second time, you can see her freak out. She also got nailed in the shin. She has a huge bruise! Finally, she had enough. We'll have to adopt a boy for Nate to play catch with, I guess.
So tomorrow morning we will be off for a new adventure. I am really excited to get up in the mountains and play in the lake. See y'all when we get back!

How fun!We used to play softball with Rachelle all the time. WOnder why we don't do it anymore! Hmm..I love camping! Last year we tried out Woods Canyon lake in October. I just had to get out of the heat!
It was freezing at night and there was a herd of elk that ran through our camp during the wee hours of the morning and scared the crap out of us, but it was so fun. We are camping kind of people!
Have a great time!
Cute haircuts! Have a fun camping trip. You are a nice wife to go camping. Being in the mountains would be nice. If Nate is ever desperate for a boy to be "sporty" with we will lend you Jack anytime you want although I can't promise that he won't through the ball, puck or other various sports paraphenalia at him!
Darling hair, girls!! Have fun in that nice mountain air!!
The hair cuts are so cute and they look so much older. Have fun camping.

How fun to go camping and get out of the heat (hopefully). I love your blog background!
cutest haircuts ever!!!! You are going to love their short hair!
Cute hair dos! Hope you enjoy your camping trip. Just this past year I've been getting more into the camping groove and its fun, but I agree that getting ready is ALOT of work. We just got back from a week of caming and are going for a night this weekend with scouts. I think whether you go for a week or a day its about the same amount of gear-yikes! Looking forward to the after camping post Ü
So fun. You always make me laugh.
...and I love the hair.
