Getting Goosed

For about a year, Nate and my brother Jeff have been planning a goose hunt up in Idaho. It fell on October 1st this year. They were like little boys waiting to go to Disneyland. This is the goose hunts of goose hunts. I was so happy they were able to go. Nate, Jeff, my Dad and Kyle were able to go. Nate headed up to Utah with our friend Kyle on his second trip in a week. Each day every hunter is allowed 4 geese. 12 guys, 4 geese, their goal was 48 geese a day. I asked Nate, "what if you get all 48 first thing? He kind of chuckled and said it wouldn't happen. When I logged on to facebook that first morning this is what I saw....

Not too shabby! Don't worry, those geese aren't meandering around their dead friends. They are fake.

Huge! I guess while my dad was laying in his layout blind, someone shot a goose and it landed on the ground right next to him. You can imagine what force they have falling out of the sky! Glad he was okay.

Kyle, Nate, Jeff

Bein' lazy in the layouts. They lay in these and when the geese fly by they all sit up and shoot.

And yes, in theory, the meat does get eaten. We have goose in the freezer that Nate is anxiously awaiting to make french dip out of. Gross. Hope he enjoys!

After the goose hunt Nate, Jeff, and Kyle decided to get a little duck hunting in before the AZ boys had to head back.

Jade is the only girl allowed on these trips. Oh wait, she's the only girl that wants to go.

Rumor has it that this boat is rough on the back.

Happy as can be! Love you honey, glad you had a great trip!
