For a Beehives activity we decided to head north and enjoy the Arizona snow for the day. I was pretty excited, it's been a few years since I have gone sledding. Here, we have to drive 2 1/2 hours to find snow. I am always cold so I wore quite a few layers. Long johns, scrubs, jeans, and snow pants. By the time I wandered out to the snow I noticed Megan was laying in the snow and Britta was checking her ankle. Thank Heaven Britta is a nurse, our family needed one yesterday! So Megan went down her first hill and got bumped off course and it put her right into a pile of lumber at the bottom of the hill. Who in the hell puts a pile of wood at the bottom of a sledding hill? Seriously. She saw it coming and stuck her foot out to try and stop herself. Luckily she is fine. Just tender. We continued on having fun. I have to say...Arizona snow can't really be called snow. It was like icy razor blades! One poor girl fell off her sled and has road rash all down her arm. Later on, Sammy flipped off of her sled, tippy tumbled off and messed up her hand. It immediately started swelling and she was screaming her head off. Cue Nurse Britta again! She didn't think anything was broken....Now, really, it was a lot of fun. I loved being up in the mountains and spending the day with my girls. By the time we got home we were all exhausted.
So today, Megan is running a low fever, feeling awful with a sore ankle. Sammy has a bruised and swollen hand that she can't use. If she can't use it tomorrow then perhaps I'll take her for an x-ray. At church half of my girls were absent, wonder if they are hurt or sick?
Update: I took Sammy in for x-rays, just to make myself feel better. She woke up today with a very swollen hand. No broken bones, just sprained. Of course it is her left hand and she happens to be a lefty. Haha. She told me that her "handwriting looks very badly."
