Yesterday Sam and I had the chance to be in the car alone. While at a red light, Sammy looked over and saw a campaign poster with a large picture of a lovely family. Most of the family was blond and pale and two of the children were black. So Sammy was asking me how this was possible. So we started talking about adoption and she had a lot of questions. She asked me if I thought adoption was a sad thing and I told her that I think that it is a wonderful opportunity for the children and their new parents. After a few thoughts back and forth she then asked me if
she was adopted. Huh? I asked if she thought she was and she told me no, but she was curious if I was keeping that information secret from her. Yeesh. Then she told me that she thought she was born on Leap Day instead of the 28th of February and that I was keeping that from her as well. So to prove that I am her mom and that she was born on the day that we always celebrate, I pulled out the birth certificate. Doesn't she know that I would lie to her about less important things? For instance...I don't know where that old, ripped and favorite dress of yours went. No, I didn't slip you medicine in your food. I know how to pick my battles. :) But she always keeps me in line. That is FO SHORE!

Has Megan been secretly letting Sam think she's adopted? I know that when I was a kid my older siblings told me quite regularly that I was bought on blue light special at KMart. I believed it for a while.
That is cute I love reading your posts about what your kids say!!
funny girl. who knew you would be honest with her.
Here's one my mom told me: Silky had to go live on a farm after she bit the mailman...
you are going to look back on these posts and laugh seriously! She's so funny! Don't tell her that you still could be keeping the whole adoption thing from her - my girls birth cert. have Tom and I as the parents so that truly doesn't prove anything. shhh!
what a funny kid!! Good old Sammy, making you prove it with paperwork!
I think you should tell her that we are her real parents and she has to share a room with Alli now. :) By the way, Alli insists on the top bunk and still has accidents some times. EW!
that is so cute. you are so fun to read!
